Silly kids

Ok, with poor Halen being much closer in age to the girls than the boys in our family, there have been several times that the girls have managed to dress him up. Well here is another one to add to our collection. I am sure he will be mad at them later in life, but for now he enjoys the laughter he causes everyone while trying to trick his dad into thinking he is Sadie's new friend "Brianna".

Poor guy, I will have to show this picture to his date one day.

Sadie thought she would try out tricking us by dressing up as a boy, but her big beautiful eyes give her away.

Carving Pumpkins

Sadie spent the day dressing up our cat Bunny with this funny hat. She found mom's camera and took her own picture of her entertainment. I had no idea what she was doing and she later told me "Mom, now Bunny can be on your blog." Sadie has really enjoyed looking at all the pictures on our family blog. Now we can officially add Bunny to our "family".

On Friday all the kids were out of school for the day, so we took the opportunity to carve pumpkins before the weather got cold. Jayden picked out one of our home grown pumpkins he was a huge help this summer at making sure that the pumpkin patch had enough water.

Dallin chose one of the pumpkins that had snuck through our fence and grew at the school's field. We were amazed that all the kids had left it on the vine long enough for it to get this big.

Halen pretty much carved his pumkin himself this year. I think carving pumpkins is one of his favorite activities, he has been asking about it for weeks.

Aubrie and Sadie had to gut their own pumpkins this year, and I think that this is their least favorite thing to do. Mom had it pretty easy this year because the kids did most of their own work at carving, it was great and made me realize just how much they have grown-up.

My little hunters

Ty took us out on our first hunting trip this weekend. Jayden and Dallin had been hunting with dad before, and I have hunted with Ty before the kids were born but this was our first hunting trip as a family. For the last five years Ty has been in school and he has missed many hunting seasons so this was Aubrie, Sadie, and Halen's first taste of hunting ever and they loved it. All the kids had a chance to hike and scout for deer. We did not have much luck and the really funny thing is that we saw more deer on our ride into town than we did hiking. Unfortunately the deer were all hanging out in the farmers fields on the border of town. They are no dummies!

I think Halen takes after some of the DieHard hunters in our family that Live to Hunt like Uncle KC, Uncle Skip and many others. Halen had fun shooting his gun at birds and anything else he could find. He even sat in his chair waiting for birds to come by. He hiked with his dad in the wee hours of the morning at almost freezing temperatures without complaint. Now that is a hunter!

Sadie made her own fashion statement while hunting, she had packed her own cute orange shirt so she could wander the hills in style.

We had a great time with our friends Kristen and Mike and their kids. (They are going to kill me for putting this picture in, but this was early morning hunting attire). Kristen was one of the hunters and even though she didn't have much luck this trip, we had fun anyway.

Dallin enjoyed the hamburgers Travis and Natasha brought up for lunch. He could be on the Carls Jr. commercial with the sauce dripping down his face and flowing all over his hands. (This is a typical thing Dallin does with hamburgers)

Aubrie enjoyed hunting with dad too or was it the treats that mom was packing for them to take up on the hill?

The weather was great during the day and a little cold at night but our new trailer helped keep us comfortable. We enjoyed playing cards, eating good meals and dutch oven deserts around the campfire. Jayden loves to hunt with dad and eat moms dutch oven deserts.


Ok this might be silly but yes I am blogging (bragging) about the dog too. Titan gets to go on all the camping trips with us, he usually even has his doggy friends to play with. Our friends always bring their dogs and he loves to run around with them. Titan loves camping so much that when he comes home from camping he mopes around the yard and refuses to eat for a day or two. He is seven months old now and I have become pretty attached to him. He completed his obedience training this summer and learned some fun tricks. Yes, he even gets to sleep in the new trailer, on a sheet laid out for him of course, and he doesn't even move off of the sheet he seems to know that this is a priviledge.

We had so much fun watching our very first garden grow. We had a successful year with pumpkins, green peppers, and tomatoes, and don't forget the gourds that we had coming out our ears. We shared them with our neighbors. The kids and I had to hurry and harvest the last of the tomatoes before the first frost hit. I made fresh salsa and put tomatoes and greenpepper in almost everything I cooked this summer. We had so much fun with our garden I am excited to do it again next year.
